Ozempic® (semaglutide) is an injectable medication classified as a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Initially approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, Ozempic works by mimicking a natural hormone in the body called GLP-1. This hormone targets areas of the brain involved in appetite regulation and helps control blood sugar levels. By activating GLP-1 receptors, Ozempic stimulates insulin secretion when blood sugar levels are high, suppresses the release of glucagon, and slows down gastric emptying. These combined actions not only improve glycemic control but also contribute to reduced appetite and potential weight loss.

Ozempic® is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a natural hormone in your body to help regulate blood sugar levels. It works by slowing down digestion, which helps you feel full longer, and by stimulating insulin production while reducing the release of glucagon. These effects not only aid in controlling blood sugar but may also support weight loss.
